AMVCA Cultural Night brought celebrities together in Lagos to celebrate African fashion, music and cultural heritage at the 2026 awards
The 2026 edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) Cultural Night came alive with colourful displays of African fashion, music and tradition as celebrities gathered in Lagos on May 9, to celebrate the continent’s rich cultural heritage.

The event, themed “Honouring Craft, Celebrating Culture,” featured appearances by actors, entertainers and public figures dressed in diverse traditional attires reflecting Africa’s cultural identity.
Actors, filmmakers, reality TV stars and entertainment personalities turned out in colourful traditional outfits that reflected the diversity and creativity of African culture.
Among the celebrities spotted at the event were Omowunmi Dada, Uche Jombo, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, Scarlet Gomez, Nnenna Mbonu and Iyabo Ojo.
Others included Stan Nze, Bucci Franklin, Saga Adeolu, Liquorose, Neo Akpofure and Venita Akpofure, all appearing in elaborate traditional ensembles inspired by different African cultures and identities.
Guests dazzled in richly crafted Aso Oke, Kente, Isiagu and beaded regalia, transforming the venue into a celebration of African elegance and creativity.

The cultural night also featured live music performances, traditional dance presentations, indigenous cuisine and fashion showcases, creating an atmosphere that blended glamour with heritage.
Host of the evening, Uti Nwachukwu, described the event as more than a celebration of film and television, noting that it serves as a platform for preserving African identity and storytelling.
“The cultural night is a celebration of African identity and storytelling beyond film and television.
