The Allwell Ademola death has thrown Nollywood into mourning after the actress and producer died suddenly in Lagos at the age of 49
It was a dark yuletide for a section of Nollywood industry after the sudden death of actress and producer, Allwell Ademola on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

Reports indicated that Ademola suffered a suspected heart attack at her residence in Lagos. The actress’ death came hours after she made what would become her final post on Instagram.

Her death sent shock waves among his colleagues in the industry, most especially those who have directly worked with her in different movies.
The family of the plus size actress sibsequently issued an official statement clarifying details surrounding her death.
In the statement signed by Adegboyega Adebayo, the family confirmed that Ademola died on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the age of 49.
The family said they mourn her passing “with heavy hearts and total submission to the will of God,” adding that burial arrangements would be announced later.
They described Allwell as a proud daughter of the Ademola family of Ogun State and a great-granddaughter of the Alake of Egba Land.
Allwell Ademola worked across Yoruba and English-language Nollywood films as an actress and was also active as a producer and director.
She featured in several Nollywood productions during her career.
She began her acting career as a teenager in 1986 and rose to prominence in the late 2000s and 2010s.
She gained widespread recognition for her role as ‘Mama Kate’ in the 2018 film ‘Ile W’, and appeared in notable productions including ‘You or I’ (2013), ‘Third Eye’ (2022), and several others.
A multifaceted talent, she also produced films, directed projects, and pursued music, forming her band Allwell and Company in 2002 and releasing an album in 2006.
One of her most recent works featured in the 2025 adventure film ‘Koma: Beyond Awakening’, directed by Kunle Awonusi, which explores themes of generational curses and survival.
Several actors took to social media to express disbelief and grief.
Faithia Williams wrote, “Haaaa. This hit me so bad. Eniobanke. Allahu Akbar..Allwell.”
Mide Martins posted a photo of the actress with the words, “BLACK SATURDAY…this is not fair. May God forgive your shortcomings Allwell.”
Damola Olatunji shared a candlelight image with the caption, “Life is a mirage.”
Bidemi Kosoko expressed disbelief, writing, “No way. No, no,, no. Ko possible ooo. This isn’t true. God forbid, in Jesus’ name.
“I refuse to accept this one Lai Lai God forbid. Olorun oni je. Just reply to my message, abeg Oremi aunty mi. I will wait patiently for your reply.”

Actress Ariyo Apesin wrote, “Aunty it will not be in Jesus name please pick my call sis,” while Jaiye Kuti added, “How far, babe? How do I mend this broken heart? Rest in peace, my dear friend.”
