Burna Boy Honours Benjah as family and entertainment icons celebrate Benson Idonije’s 90th birthday in Lagos
His birthday was June 13th. But the grand celebration for his 90th came a few days earlier because his daughter, Bose Ogulu and grandson, Burna Boy, were scheduled to jet out to the United States for performances to kickstart the FIFA World Cup.

And so the grand celebration at The Monarch in Lekki Lagos on Sunday June 8th came with the expected pomp and ceremony.
Everybody of note in the media and entertainment industry turned up to celebrate the iconic Benjah, who is celebrated as a great broadcaster, writer and analyst and Fela Kuti’s first manager.

At the event, Burna Boy, one of Nigeria’s leading afrobeats singer, delivered a moving tribute to Idonije, his grandfather, by highlighting the deep influence his grandfather has had on his life and family.
He described Benjah not just as a relative, but as a personal hero and the driving force behind many of the family’s achievements.
